Fabrics
We spend a lot of time sourcing fabrics and finding the best quality materials to use for our
products. We will use recycled materials wherever we can, and will choose fabrics that
provide durability and longevity, while also being kind to our planet.

Textile Waste
We drop small collections at limited times throughout the year. We keep our quantities
small and aim to minimise waste during production. Formerly Known As does not follow
‘trends’, so each timeless piece can be worn from season to season.
We are also launching a pre-loved program, Formerly Yours, where customers can swap or
sell their items on site.

Leather
Our leather is a byproduct of the meat industry. We choose to work with leather rather than
faux leather polyurethane (PU) as real leather is a longer-lasting and a more durable fabric
for our customers. PU includes plastic fibres that cannot be broken down and recycled.

Packaging
The bags that the garments are packed in to protect them during transportation are
recyclable and are made from recycled materials. The mailing bags you will receive your
purchase in are also recyclable.
We intentionally chose not add swing tags to our garments to save on wastage.

Factories
Co-Founder, Andrea, has worked with most of our factories for over the better part of a
decade, and continues to research the best suppliers and factories throughout the globe to
bring the best to you.

Garment Care
We want our products to stay in your wardrobe for years to come, so please ensure you
follow the care label inside your garment.
Cottons and synthetic fibres - please wash on a cool 30 ° wash
Leathers and padded garments - please wipe down and do not machine wash

make necessary changes as we grow.
